2017 Festival Returns to Lakeside, September 9 - 10

Welcome to the 6th annual Montana Dragon Boat Festival.
The Festival brings familiar fun, spirited competition and colorful pageantry to Volunteer Park on Flathead Lake in Lakeside, just 10 miles south of Kalispell.  Volunteer Park, a Flathead County Park, offers 190 feet of unobstructed Flathead Lake shoreline with spectacular views of the Mission and Flathead mountains.  The shops, restaurants and other attractions in Lakeside are all within walking distance— providing race attendees the opportunity to intimately experience one of Northwest Montana’s most charming communities.  S
everal designated parking lots adjacent to the festival grounds offer walkable access to the event for paddlers and spectators.

The event kicks off with a paddler briefing and live music at the welcome party on Friday, September 8th in the evening. Saturday races are 200 meters in length, begin at 8:30am and continue into early afternoon with a cancer survivor race and ceremony at 11:30am.  Saturday afternoon activities include a concert by Gladys Friday, Paddle Board Boxing and Beer Garden Games.  Sunday's schedule includes 500 meter races starting at 9am, a 2,000 meter Exhibition Race, the Kids' Race, a Hula performance, live music and an award ceremony.
