The Montana Dragon Boat Festival is held on Flathead Lake, the largest fresh-water lake in the West and just minutes from Glacier National Park. Our event has welcomed over 7,000 paddlers since 2012, averaging 70 teams per year. 2017 launches the Rocky Mountain Championship (RMC) – an invitational race division showcasing top dragon boat teams from the western US and Canada as they compete for a RMC medal. For the inaugural year, the first 8 Mixed Division teams that apply and qualify for the RMC will receive a free race entry. Contact Vonnie for more information about the RMC: 406-758-2809 or firstname.lastname@example.org See the RMC Video.
The weekend begins with an opportunity to paddle the course at no extra charge. Meet your competitors and enjoy a taste of Montana hospitality at the Friday evening welcome party. Throughout the weekend enjoy local food and beverage vendors, a variety of entertainment and activities on the shores of the crystal clear waters of Flathead Lake, surrounded by knock-your-socks-off views.
Returning teams will find the usual friendly competition within the same divisions as prior years (Open, Mixed, Women's and Cancer Survivor). This year the Saturday races will be a brisk 200 meters with the traditional 500 meter course on Sunday. The race location will again be beautiful Volunteer Park in Lakeside with the addition of even more event activities (drumming, art fair, contests) throughout the weekend.
